Urban Enviornment project...

My next step is to make a 3D object inspired from my painting. I don't want to re-create a mini elecrticity pylon but I want to use the idea of the underside angle of the pylon in my 3D object. I think I'll use large sheets of newsprint paper rolled up tightly into long tubes and use either a glue gun or pva glue to hold it all together.

I used a combination of the photos for my painting of the abstract angle of the pylon. The painting was almost 4ft by four and I painted it using acrylic paints.

Pylons FTW!!

I particularly liked the close up photos of the underneath angle of the pylon.

Goodbye lightbulbs, hello pylons...

After my progress review I realised that my work so  far was too scattered... I decided to focus more closely on electricity pylons.
I took some photos of electricity pylons and edited them on the compter. It was night time when I took the photos, it was also raining. The rain caused the pictures to look quite blured however, this gave the pylons and interesting look, especailly the photos that I took while standing under the pylon and pointing the camera upwards. I changed the brightness and saturation of some of the photos and painted over other using the "paint"  application on my computer.
  • I decided to make a 3D electricity pylon out of crayons.
  • I melted the ends of the crayons over a candle and stuck them together.
Although I enjoyed making this, I felt that it didn't really represent the structure of the pylon as I wanted, I found it very difficult to stick the crayons on at a diagonal angle... so, this 3D object didn't really turn out like an electricity pylon!
